“It’s never too late to become who you want to be. I hope you live a life that you’re proud of, and if you find that you’re not, I hope you have the strength to start over.”
— F. Scott Fitzgerald

A new beginning often starts because of some sort of primary wreckage. A forest fire incinerates the trees and brush. A seedling pops up amidst the devastation and reaches upward; seeking the oxygen that the universe has to offer it. It reaches for the sky because it is programmed to do so. It knows no other way; only growing up, up, up. It thrives in the devastation, because without the tearing down of what is, there is no room or fuel for it to sprout and grow. It pulls the nutrients of the burned and broken into itself for nourishment, and lives as a prime example of how nature starts over and builds life that is beautiful, new, and fresh. The seedling doesn’t mourn for what was – but instead stands as a reminder of how living continues; despite what happened yesterday, last week, or last year. It only knows how to thrive in the present moment.
Such a simple yet powerful message. We all have what we need around us to thrive. We are already perfect in so many ways, yet most of us fail to see it. Just because we have been burnt in life either by self ignition or by an outside force doesn’t mean we are destined to absolute failure. True failure after all is a choice not an ultimate destination. Hold your head up high and adsorb the sunlight, oxygen and love that is all around you and grow. The seed doesn’t sit around upset about the fire that ultimately released it and allowed it to grow into a tree. Much like the lumber in a home doesn’t sit and think about the days it was a tree. Life is a journey of constant refinement. What was once a seed will grow and become other things to ultimately return to the soil to nourish more seeds to grow.
